My Secret Desire For Collecting Stamps

I have a secret desire…for collecting stamps. Not just any stamps, but postal stamps. I think about them constantly, I have dreams of finding the most incredible rare stamp that everyone else has been looking for, for years. I have joined dozens of different online groups in the hopes of finding that one person who has the same strong desire for this hobby as I do. I don’t openly talk of my hobby to other people face to face, I know that collecting stamps is very popular with everyone of all ages, and has been for many years, but I don’t look like your typical collector. Most stamp collectors also may have a secret desire to make a living selling stamps. And what could be more fun? It could prove to be quite valuable to do that, but that also takes extra time in your collecting of stamps.

To be sure, collecting can be expensive, but only if you allow it to be. The secret is to draw a line and not cross it, and one of the best ways to keep control of the cost is to define the limitations of your collection. Some stamp collectors will only collect certain kinds, such as certain countries, certain depictions, certain values.

Some people may be able to spot a collector of sorts; they can be quite secretive in what they are looking at, will try to be discreet when possible and even try not to show much interest in what they are looking at. But it is quite hard to not get excited or catch your breath when you come across a stamp that you have never seen before, or one that has been eluding you for a very long time. That is ok and perfectly normal for a collector. The way I describe my secret desire for collecting stamps could be said for a number of people who also collect stamps. Most stamp collectors will describe how they feel in a manner of different ways, but it is something that is consistently on all their minds.

Once people find out about your secret desire for collecting stamps, you many find that there are a lot of people with the same desires as you.

Collecting stamps offer such an exciting time, From the time that you soak your stamps to remove the gum off the back of them, to drying them, sorting them and then mounting them in their appropriate spot in your stamp album or whatever it is that you use to display your stamps, you won’t even notice how many hours have gone by until you suddenly look up at the clock and realize the time. It is something that I think about while traveling to and from work, and knowing that once I am done work for the day that I can go home and perhaps work on my collection, going through any new stamps I have acquired and just having a relaxing time.
