Collecting Memories Through Stamps

The benefit of collecting stamps is the ability to keep memories within them. For example if someone was to lose someone close to them; no longer with their constant companion, they are now left with the happy memories associated with their collection.

Through stamp collecting, you can learn a lot about the history, culture, industries, animals and values of the countries that issued them at the time of printing. You may even pick up a few words in another language. A Chinese stamp featuring pandas shows someone that they live there and perhaps that they eat bamboo. Many countries issued stamps every time the Pope visited them, such as the one Canada issued in 2002 to commemorate his visit to Toronto for World Youth Day. One could share their memory with their child someday by showing them that stamp. There have been many events that have eventually been cast in the form of a stamp, and distributed world wide.

Definitely stamps give one educational benefits. Historically they give the collector a memory that is very useful and challenging. Stamps are a wonderful hobby. They are pretty neat and very rewarding too. There are a lot of countries that have various stamps. It is quite rewarding to have a particular stamp especially if it is triangular or diamond shape. For instances, Hungary and Monaco has diamond and triangular stamps. Tonga has a banana shape stamp. Those are very unique in their shapes alone. Stamps have their denomination printed on the face. As a collector, one learns about the various currencies used worldwide, or used by a country at a particular period of time. Old postmarks like those of India, and many stamps like issues of Japan, bear their local script. One can spend hours pouring over their stamps just to reminisce about what that particular country was like, and what it is like now, what you were doing when that stamp was released, or just enjoying the intricacies of each stamp.

Stamps can be used to describe memories, ranging from painful to happy to scary memories. You may have a stamp from the day that you got married, or when a terrible tragedy hit a country and a stamp was made to commemorate it, so that people would not forget. Such is the reason you see a lot of stamps that have the faces of many celebrities such as US Presidents, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Prestly, even Mickey Mouse! It is a way for people to remember them, and that could be for either good or bad.

One can easily create a timeline by using stamps. You could start with the year you were born, and from there, work on collecting stamps that pertain to major events, attractions or even people from those years. You would be amazed by the many different stamps you can find on just those alone. To add to your collection, you could add stamps from any places you happen to visit, or from places that family or friends live. Your collection of stamps will hold such a vast amount of memories, not just for you, but for others when they come across your collection.
