Collecting Memories Through Stamps
Thursday, April 3rd, 2008The benefit of collecting stamps is the ability to keep memories within them. For example if someone was to lose someone close to them; no longer with their constant companion, they are now left with the happy memories associated with their collection.
Through stamp collecting, you can learn a lot about the history, culture, industries, animals and values of the countries that issued them at the time of printing. You may even pick up a few words in another language. A Chinese stamp featuring pandas shows someone that they live there and perhaps that they eat bamboo. Many countries issued stamps every time the Pope visited them, such as the one Canada issued in 2002 to commemorate his visit to Toronto for World Youth Day. One could share their memory with their child someday by showing them that stamp. There have been many events that have eventually been cast in the form of a stamp, and distributed world wide.
